Explain the cause of Thalassemia.

Thalassemia is caused by defective gene// recessive allele

Found on the autosome

Due to gene mutation

Affecting one of the base in the gene// affecting the production of haemoglobin

Abnormal haemoglobin produced

Size of erythrocytes smaller than normal// colour of erythrocytes paler

Thus, erythrocytes less efficient in transporting oxygen

Leads to fatigue// anaemia// pale
